AIR CONDITIONING - CHILLED WATER SYSTEM
A. CHILLER:
A chiller is a machine that removes heat from a liquid via a vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle. This liquid can then be circulated through a heat exchanger to cool equipment.
B. AHU:
An Air Handling Unit is used to re-condition and circulate air as part of a heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system. The basic function of the AHU is take in return and fresh air, re-condition it and supply it as conditioned air to a building.
C. COOLING TOWER:
A cooling tower is a specialized heat exchanger in which air and water are brought into direct contact with each other in order to reduce the water's temperature. As this occurs, a small volume of water is evaporated, reducing the temperature of the water being circulated through the tower.
D. CHILLED WATER PUMP:
The chilled water pump is used to circulate chilled water in a closed system. The chilled water pump circulates return chilled water from the air handling units & fan coil units back to the chiller. The chilled water pump circulates chilled water through the system.
